FOCUS ON NAPOLI VS FIORENTINA

Published on: 07 April 2022

* Napoli have won their last three games against Fiorentina in Serie A (scoring at least two goals in each), while they last did four in a row in the top-flight against the Viola between 1988 and 1990 (five).

* In the last five Serie A games in Napoli between the Azzurri and Fiorentina, the same result has never been repeated twice in a row: a Viola win, a draw and three wins for the Partenopei in this set, including the last one (6-0 on 17th January 2021 - Viola's heaviest defeat in the top-flight since 2005/06).

* Napoli are the team that have collected the most points in Serie A in these first 12 matches of the second half of the season (27 - eight wins, three draws and one defeat).

* At home, Napoli have only won three of their last eight Serie A games (D1 L4): indeed, four of the five Azzurri defeats in the league this season have been at home, where they have the seventh-best record this term (29 points from 15 games).

* Only Hellas Verona and Salernitana (0 each) have collected fewer away clean sheets than Fiorentina (only one, in September against Udinese) in Serie A this season. The Viola have conceded in their last 11 games away from home and could reach 12 matches without keeping a clean sheet away from home in the same season since the end of 2009/10 (13).

* This will be the meeting between the two teams with the highest average possession of the current Serie A season: Napoli (59%) and Fiorentina (57%) - for the Viola, this is their most in a single Serie A campaign since 2016/17 (58%).

* With the two goals from set pieces scored in Bergamo, no team have netted more penalty goals (eight) or goals from piece situations than Napoli in Serie A this season (21, with Roma) – this includes seven from free kicks.

* Fiorentina are Lorenzo Insigne's top opponent in terms of goals scored in Serie A (9): the Napoli striker has scored 14 of his last 22 Serie A goals from penalties, including seven of the eight this season – along with Wissam Ben Yedder and Karim Benzema (both seven), he is one of three players with the most penalty goals in the big five European leagues in 2021/22.

* Eljif Elmas has already scored three goals for Napoli in Serie A this season, equalling his tally from his first two seasons in the competition - 50% of his goals in the top-flight (three out of six) have been as a substitute.

* Nicolás González, who scored in the last matchday, has scored all three of his goals in Serie A this season in home games: the last time he has scored away from home in one of the big five European leagues was at Augsburg on 10th January 2021 (in the Bundesliga, with Stuttgart).
