Ghana’s Kwasi Okyere Wriedt to leave Holstein Kiel

Published on: 04 June 2024

Ghana forward Kwasi Okyere Wriedt is on the verge of leaving Holstein Kiel as the club is looking to offload him ahead of their debut campaign in the German Bundesliga.

Wriedt, 29 years old, played on loan at Osnabruck last season in what turns out to be an unsuccessful loan stint.

Throughout the season, the former Bayern Munich youth star has featured in a paltry 24 games. He scored just one goal and provided one assist.

Just 10 of those 24 appearances were starts as he obviously struggled to thrive with the newly-promoted Osnabruck in the German second-tier.

Osnabruck eventually were relegated to the German third tier, finish bottom of the league.

In his absence, Holstein Kiel finished second in the Bundesliga 2 and gained automatic promotion to the Bundesliga.

Holstein Kiel has just one year left on his contract that is set to expire at the end of the 2024/25 season.

According to kicker, the club is not exploring the option of another loan because of the contract situation.
