2023/24 Ghana Premier League: Week 11 Match Report – Kotoko end losing run with narrow win over Medeama

In a highly anticipated clash on Sunday, Asante Kotoko and Ghana champions Medeama locked horns at the Baba Yara Stadium in the week 11 of the Ghana Premier League.

The Porcupine Warriors who has been in dismal form in this campaign inflicted a 1-0 win over the Yellow and Mauves to end their three-game losing streak in the domestic top-flight league.

Kotoko coach Prosper Narteh Ogum made six changes to the starting eleven that lost to Samartex last weekend, calling most of the experienced players into action.

Captain Danlad Ibrahim was dropped to the bench as Frederick Asare returned to the post. His last appearance was against Bibiani Goldstars.

Before this game, the Ghanaian giants had suffered three consecutive defeats to Nsoatreman FC, Dreams FC and Samartex.

But the Porcupine Warriors ensured they are back to winning ways after beating Medeama at the Baba Yara Stadium.

The first half of the game ended in a pulsating goalless draw, as both teams struggled to find the back of the net in the thrilling encounter.

The record Ghana Premier League holders broke the deadlock in the 60th minute mark through Sheriff Mohammed, who converted from the spot.

And with no additional goal, the Porcupine Warriors cruised to victory to merit the three maximum points at stake.

Kotoko are now out of the relegation zone following their triumph over the defending champions.

With 13 points, the Porcupine Warriors are 12th on the Ghana Premier League with 13 points whiles Medeama sit 7th with 16 points.
