Asante Kotoko forward Steven Desse Mukwala has shared his excitement after inspiring his outfit to secure victory over rivals Hearts of Oak in matchday 31 of the Ghana Premier League on Sunday afternoon.

The Porcupine Warriors completed the double over their arch-rivals, following a thrilling 3-2 win earlier in the campaign.

The Uganda international scored two brilliant goals as the Porcupine Warriors cruised to a 2-0 win at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Mukwala opened the scoring after just eight minutes into the game before sealing victory in injury time to snatch maximum points for the Porcupine Warriors.

“I feel so delighted. You know how it means winning at Baba Yara against our rivals Hearts of Oak. I’m really happy and I know the fans are also happy. The players and technical team are proud of the fans”

Mukwala, who has been named in the Uganda national squad for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers is currently in contention for the Ghana Premier League goal king prize. He has racked up 14 goals, one goal adrift of Stephen Amankona, who leads the race with 15 goals.

The win propels Kotoko into the top half of the table, now in 9th place and further away from the relegation zone.

Meanwhile, Hearts of Oak find themselves in a precarious position, sitting 14th on the table, just two points above the drop zone.
