Asante Kotoko head coach Prosper Narteh Ogum has attributed his team’s win over Hearts of Oak to his team’s defensive resilience.

Steven Mukwala scored a brace in the Porcupine Warriors’ 2-0 victory at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday in match week 31 of the Ghana Premier League.

Speaking after the game, “I think before the game I told you the team with a good defensive structure and good discipline will be able to carry the day.

“Observing them play most of their matches, we realized that we need to contain them and then catch them on the break.

“And if you look at the first goal, which was exactly what happened. Even the ball that hit the upright, it was the same.”

The win means Asante Kotoko move up to ninth with 43 points while Hearts of Oak are 14th with 38 points, two points away from relegation.

Asante Kotoko will next take on Accra Great Olympics on Sunday, June 2, 2024, at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in match week 32.
