Nigeria Football Federation aims to hire foreign technical adviser amidst Super Eagles' struggles

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has unveiled its intention to recruit a foreign technical adviser for the Super Eagles, following a string of disappointing performances in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

The decision, which was made during a recent crisis management meeting, comes as the team's current coach, Finidi George, faces mounting pressure.

Finidi George, a former Nigerian international, has been at the helm for only two matches since his appointment as the national team coach. However, the team has yet to secure a victory under his leadership. The Super Eagles drew against South Africa on home turf and suffered a defeat at the hands of Benin Republic in an away match.

In response to these setbacks, the NFF has resolved to bring in an expatriate Technical Adviser in the coming weeks. This strategic move is aimed at bolstering the team's performance ahead of the crucial AFCON qualifiers and the remaining FIFA World Cup qualifying matches.

The NFF is hopeful that the infusion of international expertise will help the Super Eagles regain their form and improve their chances in the upcoming tournaments. The search for the right candidate is currently underway.
