Kotoko deserved to win the Super Clash – Hearts of Oak coach Aboubakar Ouattara

Published on: 27 May 2024

Hearts of Oak head coach, Aboubakar Ouattara, has admitted that Asante Kotoko deserved to win the weekend’s Super Clash.

Steven Mukwala scored a brace in the Porcupine Warriors’ 2-0 victory at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday in match week 31 of the Ghana Premier League.

Speaking after the game, the Ivorian training admitted his team did not play well enough to win.

“That's the reality of the football. When you can't score, you can't play well and the opponent take their chances [you will lose].

“Kotoko had a good game today and I congratulate them. We played badly once again. Kotoko deserved to win.”

The win means Asante Kotoko move up to ninth with 43 points while Hearts of Oak are 14th with 38 points, two points away from relegation.

Asante Kotoko will next take on Accra Great Olympics on Sunday, June 2, 2024, at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in match week 32.

Meanwhile, Hearts of Oak are set to host Nations FC at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday, May 31, 2024.
