English-born forward of Ghanaian heritage, Kirsten Fiifi Otchere, delivered a stellar performance, scoring twice to lead Leicester City to an impressive 5-2 away victory against reigning champions Chelsea in the English U-18 South Premier League last Saturday.
The 16-year-old rising star capped off the previous season with 15 goal involvements, netting 10 goals and providing 5 assists across all competitions.
Otchere’s brace ignited the Young Foxes’ comeback, which was further bolstered by goals from Kevon Gray, Laolu Omobolaji, and Jeremy Monga.
Chelsea’s Sol Gordon and Landon Emenalo managed to find the net for the Young Blues, but it wasn’t enough to stop Leicester’s surge.
As the season unfolds, Otchere will be aiming for more game time and goals with both the U-18 and U21 sides, with his sights set on breaking into the senior team.
Leicester City is set to face West Ham United in their next match on September 14.
Though Otchere represents England at the youth level, he remains connected to his Ghanaian roots, having organized a charity game in Adako-Jachie, Ashanti Region, on May 25 after last season.
