New FC Barcelona left-back David Oduro has expressed his appreciation for his time at Accra Lions following his loan move to the Spanish giants.

The 18-year-old Ghanaian talent spoke fondly of the club, highlighting their focus on player development.

"Accra Lions is a very great club they have time they are the youngster team in Accra here. So they have enough time to develop you it is not about the trophies all they do is how to develop you that is it," Oduro told SportyTV

"I met him (Lothar Matthäus owner of Accra Lions) when I went to Germany Leverkusen I did well (trials) as well. I played for Accra Lions for two years I like overlapping because I always look up to Alejandro Balde I want to learn a few things from him," he added.

Oduro, who admired Barcelona’s Alejandro Balde, spent two years with Accra Lions before earning a loan move to Barcelona’s La Masia Academy, where he hopes to secure a permanent deal next summer.

The transfer marks a historic moment as Oduro becomes the first player to move directly from Ghana to Barcelona. The Spanish club sealed the deal after Oduro impressed during his trial with them. He previously had trials with clubs such as Chelsea and Bayern Munich, with interest from Real Sociedad and Shakhtar Donetsk before settling on Barcelona.
