Charlton Athletic striker Freda Ayisi reacts to Black Queens debut in defeat against Zambia

Charlton Athletic striker Freda Ayisi has shared her excitement after finally making her Ghana debut in the Olympic Games qualifier against Zambia.

The England-based forward was handed a starting role by coach Nora Hauptle when the Black Queens hosted the Copper Queens at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday.

Ayisi had a descent game in the first half despite the Black Queens succumbing to a 1-0 defeat on home turf. The forward was replaced by Sherifatu Sumaila in the second half.

However, Ayisi has taken to social media to express her joy after debuting for the Black Queens at last.

"Debut Ghana. The support was amazing," she posted on Instagram.

The Black Queens are currently in Zambia ahead of the return fixture scheduled for Wednesday, February 28, 2024.

The Black Queens are chasing a first-ever appearance in women's football at the Olympics. An aggregate victory in Zambia will be enough to see Ghana make a return to the Olympics in football, with the Black Meteors being the last team to play at the multi-sport competition in 2004.
