Black Stars coach Otto Addo has clarified that he has not spoken to English-born Ghanaian winger Callum Hudson-Odoi regarding a potential nationality switch.

This comes in response to recent reports in the local media suggesting that Hudson-Odoi, who currently plays for Nottingham Forest, is considering playing for Ghana.

Addo, during a press conference at the GFA headquarters, stated that his primary focus is on the upcoming crucial World Cup qualifiers against Mali and the Central African Republic (CAR).

"It is difficult to talk about the future. I have not talked to Callum Hudson Odoi. The process is difficult because you will have to apply and get the player, but my mind is not there. I am focusing on the Mali and CAR games," he said.

The Black Stars are set to begin their training camp on Thursday at the University of Ghana Stadium in Legon, in preparation for the qualifiers. Ghana is currently aiming to get back to winning form after a mixed start in Group I of the World Cup qualifiers, with one win and one loss in their first two matches.

The team began their campaign with a 1-0 victory over Madagascar in Kumasi but then suffered a 1-0 defeat to Comoros in Moroni. The qualifier against Mali is set for Thursday, June 6, 2024, at Stade 26 Mars in Bamako, kicking off at 19:00. Following that, Ghana will face the CAR at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Monday, June 10, 2024.

Currently sitting 4th in Group I, the Black Stars hope to secure victories in both games to boost their chances of qualifying for the World Cup, which will be hosted in the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
