2026 World Cup qualifiers: West Brom’s Brandon Thomas-Asante reports for first Ghana duty

West Bromwich Albion forward, Brandon Thomas Asante has reported to Black Stars camp for the first time in his career.

The dynamic forward touched down on Thursday among the first group of players ahead of the crucial qualifying games against Mali and the Central African Republic.

The 23-year-old delivered an outstanding performance for the Championship club in the just ended season.

He scored 12 goals and provided 2 assists across all competitions as West Brom narrowly missed out on qualification to the Premier League.

Asante’s outstanding performances throughout the season has earned him a place in the Black Stars squad for the second time, but is making the final squad for the first time.

The Black Stars are set to face Mali on Thursday, June 6, 2024, at the Stade du 26 Mars in Bamako in the third round of qualifying for the Canada and USA World Cup,

Four days later, the team will return to Ghana for the fourth round match at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium against the Central African Republic.

Ghana opened its qualifying campaign with a narrow 1-0 win over Madagascar in Kumasi before losing by the same score line to Comoros in the second group game.

Ghana currently sits fourth in Group I with three points, three behind leaders Comoros.
