2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers: Match against Mali is very important for us — Ghana coach Otto Addo insists

Head coach of the Ghana senior national team, Otto Addo has indicated that he is aware the encounter against Mali this week is an important match.

The tactician will be on the touchline on Thursday, June 6, when the Black Stars lock horns with the Eagles in Bamako in Round 3 of the qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Speaking at a pre-match press conference on Wednesday, Coach Otto Addo stressed that the game against Mali is significant.

He said it is important for the Black Stars to win tomorrow to improve their position on the Group I standings of the African qualifiers.

“It's a very important match for us. We are one point behind Mali and we have to win to give us a chance of qualifying to the World Cup. Mali are a very strong team. They have young talent in their team and it will be a tough game for us tomorrow,” coach Otto Addo said.

The game against Mali on Thursday will kick off at 7pm.
