2025 AFCON Qualifiers: Ghana aiming to finish top of Group F

Published on: 04 July 2024

Ghana is setting its sights on securing the top position in Group F of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers, a move that would directly secure the team's place in the prestigious tournament.

The official draw for the CAF AFCON Morocco 2025 qualifiers took place on Thursday in Johannesburg, South Africa, marking the beginning of the journey towards Africa's most significant football event.

The draw was live-streamed from Johannesburg and was conducted by Emerse Faé, the coach of the reigning CAF AFCON champions, and Moroccan football legend, Marouane Chamakh. Ghana, a four-time AFCON winner, has been drawn into Group F, where it will face off against Sudan, led by former Black Stars coach Kwesi Appiah, as well as Angola and Niger.

The Ghanaian team's performance in the last two AFCON tournaments has been less than stellar, a fact that has left fans and pundits alike yearning for a return to form.

The upcoming qualifiers, scheduled to commence in September 2024, will determine the first 24 nations to compete in the CAF Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco in 2025.
