Published on: 18 November 2023

In a highly anticipated clash on Sunday, the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi will witness an intense battle between Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko and Ghana champions Medeama in the week 11 of the domestic league.

The Porcupine Warriors’ struggles in the Ghana Premier League continued last weekend, as they suffered a 1-0 defeat away to FC Samartex.

The loss marked the third consecutive defeat for the team under the guidance of coach Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum. With this latest setback, Kotoko find themselves languishing in 16th position on the league table, having collected just 12 points from 10 matches.

The Ghanaian giants are chasing an unwanted record in the top-flight. If they fail to get a positive result against the Yellow and Mauves, they risk equaling their worst run of results in 13-years.

The last time Kotoko recorded a poor run of results in the domestic top-flight was back in 2010/11 season under then coach Ebo Mends. Kotoko have been in dismal form, drawing two and losing three in their last five games in the league.

Knowing exactly what’s at stake, the former WAFA tactician must come up with a strategy that will yield a positive result for the Ghanaian giants.

The record league holders are eager for a win having suffered defeats in their last three games, but they come up against Medeama who are also desperate for points after succumbing to defeat against Berekum Chelsea on home turf.

Medeama are currently 5th on the league standings with 16 points. it promises to be a thrilling clash on Sunday as both teams will be yearning for positive results.
